Civitella di Romagna
The Camporosso farm-house is located in Civitella di Romagna, a municipality that belong to the Valle Bidentina (Bidentina Valley). The name of this small country town derives from the diminutive of the medieval Latin word Civita ( from Civitas ). The historical importance of the territory is tied , in the Roman Age, to the centre of Mevaniola ( now Galeata) and afterwards to the Saint Ellero Abbey. The municipality territory counts the presence of 28 ruins of fortresses and castles, due to the flourishing, around the VIII and IX century, of Castra ( fortified castles closed by boundary walls) all over the hilly Apennine. Place of interest in the town are the old village named “il castello” ( the castle); the fortress dated XII century; the “Chiesa del Castello “ (church of the castle); and the sanctuary of The Blessed Virgin of Suasia.
